From Marlin Magic to Disney Dreams
VWU graduate heading to the most magical place on earth

For Corinne DeLawrence, 好色先生tv has always felt like home—because, in many ways, it has been.
“I’ve been coming to this campus since I was a kid,” she says with a smile. “Virginia Wesleyan has been a part of my life since I was a child.”
The Virginia Beach native, who will graduate this month with a degree in communications and a minor in business, grew up surrounded by the Marlin spirit. Both of Corinne’s parents are proud VWU alumni and have remained active in the University’s alumni community. She often tagged along as they returned to campus for events and meetings, forging a deep personal connection to the institution well before her first day of college.
That strong bond made her college decision easy—and she wasn’t alone. Corinne started her freshman year with eight close friends who also chose VWU.
“I like the school’s close community, seeing my friends every day, the small classes, and the countless activities available to us,” she says. “It made the whole experience even more special.”
Another defining part of Corinne’s upbringing was her family’s frequent trips to Florida—specifically to Walt Disney World. The magic of Disney left a lasting impression and inspired her to take a bold step toward her future.
This summer, Corinne will begin the next chapter of her journey through the prestigious Disney College Program. The paid internship is offered by The Walt Disney Company to select college students and recent graduates, providing opportunities to work at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando. Participants take on a variety of roles across the parks and resorts, gaining hands-on experience in operations, entertainment, hospitality, and more.
Known for its competitive selection process—with only about 20% of applicants accepted—Corinne’s placement is a significant achievement. It also marks a major milestone in her life: it will be the first time she’s lived outside her hometown.
“I’m both nervous and excited,” she admits. “But when I’m there, all my worries fade into the background. I don’t think about anything but Disney when I’m there.”
The program offers more than just pixie dust. With on-site housing, educational development opportunities, and access to behind-the-scenes experiences, the Disney College Program is designed to help students build transferable skills in communication, teamwork, and leadership—exactly the kind of foundation Corinne has been developing at Virginia Wesleyan.
As she prepares to graduate and move to Florida, Corinne is carrying with her a legacy of family, community, and lifelong dreams. And while she may be leaving her hometown, she’s heading exactly where she’s always wanted to be.
“It’s the perfect place to start,” she says. “It feels like everything is coming together at the right time.”
